Sharing the instant accessibility of titles like Wii Sports and Wii Fit, Wii Party brings more than 80 different mini-games into your home. The inventive game offers non-stop fun and unparalleled variety as you, your family and friends grab up to four Wii Remotes and try your hand at a host of inventive and intuitive gaming experiences. To add to the enjoyment, youll play as your Mii character and see them in action like never before!

With 13 different game modes to get to grips with, Wii Party will be the life and soul of any gathering as you enjoy games that refine the traditional party videogame experience. For the first time, the action away from the television screen will be as important as whats displayed on it as House Party mode turns your living room into a pivotal part of the game play.

The Party Games include:

  • Board Game Island (1-4 players) – players take it in turns to roll the dice and advance along a single route towards the summit of the mountain. At the beginning of each turn, everyone plays a mini-game, and the order the players come in determines which bonus dice they receive. This is a board game like no other expect the impossible.
  • Globe Trot (1-4 players) a board game that has you travelling the world to earn souvenir photos. The players must select one card at a time from the cards they have in their hands and advance the stated number of spaces towards the country they are aiming for. There is also a minigame before each turn, and based on the results, players win coins which they can use to buy movement cards and souvenir photos.
  • Bingo (1-4 players) – each player receives a bingo card covered in Mii characters. If a Mii Ball comes out of the bingo machine, you have to check off that Mii if it appears on your card, while if a Mini-game Ball appears, you play a mini-game. The winner can

This DS simulation title has you and your pet Tamagotchi open a store. You can select from three different Tamagotchi types and give your new little friend a name. The game includes a variety of shop types, including a bakery and a dentist. The DS`s special features come into play quite clearly when you choose to open up a dentist office.

In a nutshell:
The Tamagotchi craze looks like it’s about to start all over again as the cute little critters start up in business on the DS, running dentist surgeries, flower shops and bakeries as they show the friendlier side of capitalism.

The lowdown:
Despite the name this isn’t really a virtual pet game, instead you pick one of three Tamagotchis to go into business with in one of 11 different shops. Each one has its own mini-game so that in the beauty shop, for example, you’re given a photo of what the customer wants to look like and you have to apply make-up and accessories to get them as close as possible. The more you work the more “gotchi points” you earn to buy furniture, clothes and accessories for your Tamagotchi’s house. The mini-games do get a bit repetitive in the end but the graphics, by the designer of PaRappa the Rapper, add a heavy dose of charm to proceedings.

Most exciting moment:
The best mini-game is the dentist one, where you have to soothe toothaches, fill cavities and drill teeth. There’s even a special Dental Salon shop to unlock that works like the Beauty Salon where customers ask you to give them special glazes or diamond studded pearlies.

Since you ask:
In Japan Connexion Corner Shop has become the best selling DS game not published by Nintendo themselves, with over one million copies sold so far. A sequel is planned for this year.

The bottom line:
Help the Tamagotchi pets pay their way in this simple but fun mini-game collection.

In a nutshell:
Rayman steps back into the limelight as he’s brought in to protect the world from evil alien… rabbits? One of gaming’s most beloved platform stars returns in a mini-game collection that makes Wario Ware seem sane.

The lowdown:
Apart from Mario, most other attempts from platform heroes to branch out into other genres has usually ended up in abject failure. Overseen by the series’ creator though this features 80 of the weirdest party games ever conceived, including hammer throwing with cows and squirting rabbids with water to keep the door shut on them while they’re in the toilet. Not all of the games are as short and simple as that though as this also includes various racing missions, a fully fledge flight game and ten different first person shoot ’em-up levels. Although each mini-game is introduced with a frequently amusing cut scene there’s also a fully fleshed out multiplayer mode for most of them, including the shoot ’em-up levels where you get to play as either Rayman or one of the Rabbids.

Most exciting moment:
Whenever you complete a game in the story mode you can replay it any time via the replay mode. When playing the game like this you also get to dress Rayman up in an unlikely range of clothing, from afro wig to flared jeans and winged collars. It’s not just for show either as it increases the likelihood you’ll get a love letter from the Rabbids in the audience of each game!

Since you ask:
The Rayman series was created by Michel Ancel, France’s most celebrated game designer. As well as the first two Rayman games he was also responsible for Tonic Trouble, the award winning Beyond Good & Evil and celebrated movie tie-in Peter Jackson’s King Kong.

The bottom line:
Rayman’s jump from platforms to mini-games is no misstep.-HARRISON DENT

  • New Wacky Games – 60 brand-new games that spoof popular culture and are even wackier and crazier than those featured in the first Rayman Raving Rabbids.
  • All-New Party Mode – Play co-op or battle your friends simultaneously with up to four players!
  • Unique Use of the Wii Remote – Discover new and innovative ways to play with eight types of gameplay, including shaking, precision, dexterity, and balance.
  • Rock Out with the Rabbids – Use the Wii Remote as your guitar, drums, or mic as you create and listen to music from the most popular bands around.
  • Travel Around the World – Take Rayman on a world tour to defend Earth and travel to different regions including the USA, Europe, and Asia. Challenge the Rabbids as they try and infiltrate everyday life.
  • Customise Rayman and the Rabbids – Use more than 110 items including skins, hats, accessories, and clothes to dress Rayman, and to create your own Rabbid. Unleash your creativity with over 540K customization combinations.

The Wii gets a lot of stick for its abundance of mini-game compilations but that criticism would feel all the sharper if it wasn’t for the fact that most of them are still a lot of fun. Launch game Rayman Raving Rabbids was one of the best and this uses the same basic concept while greatly improving the actual individual games themselves. Instead of being captured, this time the strangely limbless Rayman has to sneak his way into a rabbid headquarters near a shopping centre as the demonic rabbit creatures plan an invasion of Earth (or wherever it is that Rayman actually lives).

Rayman’s disguises, and those of the rabbids themselves, can all be customised but involve a huge range of movie and video game parodies, from Naruto and Star Wars to Super Mario and Transformers. The actual mini-games are similarly eager to poke fun at anything and everything they can think of including a Guitar Hero spoof, twisted versions of traditional baseball and football sims and even a mini-game set in Ubisoft’s own offices which tasks you with the arduous goal of not getting any work done.

There are 60 mini-games in total, with the rhythm action stages making a comeback, in revamped form, alongside the popular first person shoot ‘em-up levels.
